 Applications for next autumn are open for Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences [UAS] at www.admissions.fi from 9th January.For most institutions, this window is short and closes on 14th February. A minority UAS have extended deadlines.
The UAS offer a wide range of programmes taught through English, including bachelor programmes in Business, Engineering, IT, Nursing, Social Work and Tourism. Programmes are 3.5 or 4 years long and are free of tuition fees. Most programmes have an entrance exam as part of the admissions procedure.

Application to courses and programmes in Sweden, for the autumn semester 2012 opened today.
The introduction of a cap on student numbers may be necessary as third-level colleges struggle to cope with a deepening funding crisis, a report commissioned by Minister for Education Ruairí Quinn has concluded.
Though it is still early days – the UCAS application deadline is 15 January – there are early indications that the fee hike in English universities is having a negative impact on university application levels, not just in England but across the UK. Fees this year, for English universities are up to £9000 pa.
