Application Window Opens for Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences

Applications for next autumn are open for Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences [UAS] at www.admissions.fi from 9th January.For most institutions, this window is short and closes on 14th February. A minority UAS have extended deadlines.

The UAS offer a wide range of programmes taught through English, including bachelor programmes in Business, Engineering, IT, Nursing, Social Work and Tourism. Programmes are 3.5 or 4 years long and are free of tuition fees. Most programmes have an entrance exam as part of the admissions procedure.

A drawback for UK and Irish students is that, usually, copy A-Level or Leaving Certificate results need to be received by the UAS before the end of July! This is two weeks too early for those students who will be getting their results this August. However, for students who already have their results, Finnish UAS offer an attractive learning environment with good student support services. Note also that some programmes have a second, mid-winter start and you can apply to join these programmes when your results are available in the autumn.
