Jacobs University, situated in an 80-acre park, is a private, independent university, registered as a not-for-profit organisation. It was founded in 2001, supported by the city of Bremen, the University of Bremen, and Rice University in Houston, Texas).
The university currently has an enrolment of nearly 1300 students on its campus, of whom about half are on undergraduate programmes. The university offers 21 Bachelor programmes 20 Postgraduate programmes (Master / PhD).
The University offers a wide range of undergraduate programmes, many of which are not offered, through English, elsewhere in Europe.
Though its fees can be higher than in other universities, financial aid is available.
