Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT) is based at five locations in the west of Ireland with the largest campus situated in Galway city, which first opened in 1972, as Galway Regional Technical College.
GMIT offers programmes from Higher Certificate to Doctoral Level in programmes in Humanities, Business, Science, Nursing & Health Sciences, Hotel Management, Engineering and Design.
According to GMIT, it will continue to develop "as a regional organisation with an international focus committed to the personal and professional enrichment of its students, the needs of its region, national priorities and global opportunities"
Twice in recent years, GMIT has won the Sunday Times Institute of Technology of the Year award.
