The programme gives you broad knowledge of materials and processes. You’ll get expert knowledge of new and innovative materials, such as those that can make textiles last longer and adjust to body temperatures. You’ll also get insight into modern processing technology so you can be part of optimizing techniques, product design, product development processes, financial considerations, and production in manufacturing companies. Graduates are likely to become a key employee in the textile and furniture sectors.

Materials science: materials for textile and furniture, smart materials, nanomaterials, and organic biodegradable materials
Mechanical properties [tensile strength, elasticity, abrasion resistance, ageing resistance and colour fastness]
Process: product design, industrial methods of processing, process related problems.
Business: Quality control and environmental control; statistical methods and theories of measurement; and project management

Three A Levels (inc Maths) & three GCSEs.mPhysics & Chemistry required.
Six passes at Leaving Cert [inc 2HC3]. Hons Maths required. Subjects to include Physics & Chemistry.
