Programme profile


The programme consists of a basic year (two semesters) and two and a half years (five more semesters) of specialised studies in one of two fields:

Public Health Nutrition and Food Policy
The aim is for students to become qualified to independently handle health-promoting and disease preventive communicative, educational and management tasks in the development and implementation of nutrition and food policies in various sectors (e.g. schools, workplaces or institutions).

Lifestyle Coaching and Fitness Management
The aim is for students to become qualified to independently handle health-promoting, disease preventiveand motivational communicative, management and guidance tasks in relation to diet, physical activity and other health-related lifestyle factors.

VIAs teaching is based on practice and applied theory. Theory is approached through assignments, case histories and problem-based learning. Problem-based learning is an instructional method which allows students to work together in teams to answer a question or solve a real-world problem.

Entry Requirements


General Certificate of Education (with examination in 8 subjects where at least 3 are A-levels, alternatively 2 A-levels + 2 AS-levels, 1 A-level + 4 AS-levels. Subjects to include Chemistry plus Maths or Biology OR relevant BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma
