LLB European LawAdd to shortlist
Programme profile
This programme, run at the European Law School focuses on teaching essential legal skills, such as how to work with statutory materials, reference books and legal literature, specifically in the areas of European law, comparative law and European legal systems. You engage directly in case studies from actual practice law and receive training in debating, giving oral presentations and arguing your case. Legal English is, of course, studied in depth. To study each subject in detail, you participate in tutorials and skills modules, led by members of our international staff.
The programme uses the unique Problem-Based Learning (PBL) educational method. By focusing on a central question or problem in each course, PBL sharpens your ability to solve problems and think systematically.
Though not compulsory, internationally operating law practices, European and international organisations and multinational companies offer Maastricht European Law School students internships during their studies in- or outside the Netherlands>
With this degree (usually followed by a corresponding Master of Laws), you have a qualification that is unique in Europe. You show that you have thorough knowledge of the concepts underlying legal systems and the way these concepts have been implemented in the major legal traditions in Europe (major civil law and common law systems). Moreover, you have deep knowledge of the law and functioning of the European Union.
