Programme profile

In this programme, you are introduced to Sustainable Design and how to include sustainability in the entire process of designing, producing and marketing a fashion product. During the first part of the programme you acquire an understanding of the entire process of designing, producing and marketing fashion products. We believe you must know the basic processes of the value chain in the fashion industry before you can specialise: early on you must choose one of the three specialisation subjects: Fashion Design, Responsible Sourcing or Fashion Marketing. The first two years of the programme comprise an AP Degree in Design Technology.

From Year 3, you look in depth at the concept of "Sustainable Design": after some introductory modules, you must then specialise in a field of your own choice within Sustainable Design: Sustainable Fashion Design, Sustainable Purchasing or Sustainable Communication.

In Sustainable Fashion Design you focus on how to integrate both the environment and sustainability into the design process - from idea generation to final design. In Sustainable Purchasing you focus on carrying out production of fashion products that takes the environment and workers in the production chain into consideration. InSustainable Communication you focus on the added value of a sustainable fashion product and how to communicate this added value to the consumer while avoiding 'greenwashing'
