City profile
Split is located in Central Dalmatia, Croatia. With a population of 178,192 and a metropolitan area numbering up to 350,000, it is the second largest city in Croatia and is the economic hub of the eastern Adriatic .
The city centre is highly attractive, and amongst its many historic buildings, you can still clearly see the Roman walls, squares, and temples. Because of its gorgeous climate, with 2,800 hours of sunlight each year, local people have a few nicknames for Split: "The most beautiful city in the world" and "Mediterranean flower".
